Handblown Glass Tumblers
Handblown Glass Tumblers
Handmade in Aotearoa by artist Keith Grinter
These tumblers are decorated with mixtures of coloured glass frits. Handblown and may vary a bit in size and shape but are usually around 11-12cm high.
Each tumbler is individually hand-blown by New Zealand glass artist Keith Grinter in his Whangārei studio. Coloured glass frit is incorporated into the molten glass to create distinctive patterns and finishes, meaning no two tumblers are exactly alike.
As each piece is made entirely by hand, natural variations in shape, size, colour and pattern are to be expected and are part of what makes these glasses unique.
Keith is an award-winning glass artist whose work explores the possibilities of hot glass, including his distinctive shard pick-up technique. This process involves gathering pieces of coloured glass onto molten glass to create spontaneous lines, textures and patterns.
Keith completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Quay School of Arts, UCOL, in Whanganui, where he also later taught.
